So what is Personal OOFILE?
OOFILE is our object-oriented database framework, for Mac, Windows and Unix. It features replaceable database backends - all conforming to the same front-end interface (see the OOFILE demo for more complete examples).
Personal OOFILE provides a RAM-based database, which can be saved to disk in a single stream, and a dBase III+ and dBase IV compatible backend. It is particularly useful for data exchange with systems such as MS Access and Visual BASIC.
The full OOFILE also provides a backend using Faircom's c-tree Plus ISAM database engine. You can develop initially with Personal OOFILE and scale up an industrial strength database, with shared-file or client-server multi-user, capable of handling millions of records.
One line of code determines the type of backend used, and they can be mixed in the same program.
Personal OOFILE retails for $US99 for a 1 year subscription including technical support. Academic price is $US49 and site licensing is available.
We are also considering making available our PowerPlant integration classes, for an additional price. These allow you to easily display and edit the data in your Personal OOFILE databases, and complete editing applications can be generated by Bowers Development's AppMaker™.

Our companion OOFGraph product also includes the RAM-based backend, but not a full copy of Personal OOFILE, as it lacks streaming to disk and lacks the dBase backend.
